Audio File Compression for MAC

I had an interesting problem the other day with an audio file I wanted to install on the Wind Over Wings website.

The file was given to us from NPR Public Radio in Connecticut and was an interview that had done and broadcast with the founder Hope Dougles.  It turns out the file they gave me was over 58 Mb in an .aiff format.

I wound up downloading a small audio compression utility called xACT.  xACT is really easy to use and supports file compression into various formats.  I was able to quickly and easily compress this file into MP3 format at about 5 MB for easy use on the website.

If you’re doing this type of work I would certainly recommend xACT.
